Empowerment shoots
It’s about body positivity and self confidence, getting out of your comfort zone and stepping into the light.
It’s about celebrating you - who you are, embracing the ‘flaws’ you feel you have and highlighting the beauty you might struggle to see in yourself. It might involve wearing clothes you don’t normally have the confidence to wear or wearing something special that means a lot to you.
What is an empowerment shoot?
A comment I get a lot when showing someone the results of their shoot is ‘I can’t believe that’s me!’
It’s taken me a while to realize it, but this is really the sign of a successful empowerment shoot which I have been doing for a while now without even knowing!
Self love
Something I hear a lot is ‘I’m not very photogenic’ or ‘I’m not very comfortable in front of the camera’.
An empowerment shoot is where you start to relax, have fun and start to feel comfortable in front of the the camera. It’s about celebrating you - who you are, embracing the ‘flaws’ you feel you have and highlighting the beauty you might struggle to see in yourself. It might involve wearing clothes you don’t normally have the confidence to wear or wearing something special that means a lot to you.
It doesn't necessarily mean wearing revealing clothing but if that's your choice I like to keep my images classy. Sensual and suggestive rather than overtly erotic.
New You
You might be wanting to mark a new season in your life or just finally do something you’ve never had the confidence to do before. You might be wanting to create a special something for someone you love but ultimately it’s all about you - for you to feel good about yourself and have photos to look back on and remind you of how beautiful you really are.
Collaboration
When you book an empowerment shoot at the studio I will work together with you beforehand to build up a moodboard of the kind of shots you are after. This helps me to prepare the studio and prepare the lights and background and you can come prepared with all the clothes and props that you need.
I try to keep the studio environment relaxed and fun. I always have music on - you are welcome to bring your own playlist to set the mood. You'll be able to review the photos as we go and we'll work together to create artistic, classy shots you can be proud of!
